Under the supervision of the Regional Administrator (RA), the Deputy Regional Administrator (DRA) provides leadership and direction to States to establish, manage, and administer grants under the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) highway safety grant program (23 U.S.C. 402 or Section 402) and the National Priority Safety Program grants (23 U.S.C. 405 or Section 405). The NHTSA grant programs strive to reduce traffic deaths and injuries by designing programs to address national highway safety priorities and goals. The position works with the States to establish mechanisms for regular communication on grant programs and policy initiatives and provides uniform assistance and guidance as outlined in the Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards, 2 CFR Part 200 and the Uniform Procedures for State Highway Safety Grant Programs, 23 CFR Part 1200 and/or 1300. The Deputy Regional Administrator reviews, evaluates, and approves proposed grant programs and monitors grant programs and expenditures after implementation. In addition, the Deputy Regional Administrator manages the day-to-day operations of the regional office.
The Ideal Candidate Statement: The ideal candidate should have supervisory experience and a comprehensive knowledge of grant management and administration under NHTSA highway safety grant program (23 U.S.C. 402 or Section 402) and National Priority Safety Program grants (23 U.S.C. 405 or Section 405), 2 CFR Part 200 – Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards, and Uniform Procedures for State Highway Safety Grant Programs, 23 CFR Part 1200 and/or 1300.
