The Emergency Room Nurse Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing daily nursing activities for designated areas to include patient care, utilization of personnel, scheduling, orientation, and staff development. Duties include but are not limited to: interpreting and implementing policies and procedures, assisting with maintaining effective evaluation programs on quality nursing care and personnel performance, representing Nursing Service at multidisciplinary meetings, and fostering participation in process improvement programs and clinical research.

Physical Requirements: Position requires moderate to heavy lifting and carrying, pushing, walking and standing for extended periods, ability for simultaneous rapid and mental and muscular coordination, near vision correctable at 13" to 16" Jaeger 1 to 4 (one eye, glasses permitted), ability to distinguish basic colors, emotional and mental stability; hearing aid permitted. Incumbents may experience exposure to blood and body fluids.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

1. BSN required, MSN preferred
2. Minimum of five (5) years of successful nursing practice, with at least three years recent emergency room experience. Evidence of progressive leadership with minimum one year of management experience preferred.
3. Basic computer skills required (experience with mouse and keyboard); advanced skills preferred (Microsoft word, excel, etc).
4. Strong knowledge base and commitment to the principles of quality improvement.
5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with other members of the multidisciplinary health care team to accomplish the medical center's mission, vision, and goals.
6. Demonstrated effective utilization of the nursing process.
7. Past performance appraisals reflect a minimum of highly satisfactory.
8. Evidence of strong positive interpersonal/customer service relations, verbal/written communication and leadership skills.
9. Ability to articulate professional standards of practice.
10. Knowledge of resource management preferred.
