The Nurse Manager (NM) is responsible and accountable for planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluating patient care programs and staff activities for 7IPU which is a 36 bed acute inpatient mental health unit at the Eastern Colorado Health Care System (ECHCS). The NM has direct supervisory responsibility for the 7IPU personnel providing services in the unit, and services at the bedside for indicated inpatients. The NM practices nursing; characterized by leadership; advances, promotes, and improves the delivery of dialysis and nursing care; establishes professional relationships with professional and/or health related groups within the community; and makes significant contributions to the nursing profession. Decisions are based on VAHQ, VISN, Joint Commission, national standards, and evidence-based research outcomes. The NM provides leadership in addressing ethical issues that impact patients and staff and implements health care evaluation and outcome measures. Duties include but are not limited to:
