As a VA Practical Nurse you will provide prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to ill and injured Veterans.
Duties include documenting observations and changes in patient's condition and reports any noted change in patient's condition to the Registered Nurse; collaborates with health team members to facilitate positive patient care outcomes; provides a full range of nursing care to patients with Geriatric/Psychiatric, restorative, wound care, nutritional and medication needs; and accountable for meeting and maintaining the qualification standards and functional statements of assigned grade. The Community Living Center provides Veteran centered care using an interdisciplinary team approach.

Basic Requirements:
· U.S. citizenship.
· Graduate of a school of practical nursing approved by the appropriate State accrediting agency and one of the following: The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
· Current, full, active and unrestricted registration as a Practical nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
· Must be proficient in spoken and written English
· Ability to work flexible hours
· Current certification in Basic Life Support
Preferred Experience: Long Term Care Experience and Geriatric certification

Grade Determinations:
In addition to the basic requirements stated in section A, the following qualification criteria must be met for each grade. The candidates qualifications must clearly demonstrate the level of competence required for the grade.
GS-3
· None beyond the basic requirements.
GS-4
· Six months of qualifying experience as an LPN or LVN; or
· Graduation from an approved school and one year of experience that involved nursing care work in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other supervised medical, nursing, or patient care facility that provided a practical knowledge of human body structure and sterile techniques and procedures; or
· Graduation from an approved school of at least 24 months duration.
· LPNs at the GS-4 grade level perform all duties expected of employees at the GS-3 grade level; however, they are expected to exercise greater judgment, require less supervision, and to operate in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and techniques.
GS-5
· Completion of at least 1 year of qualifying experience at the GS-4 level or equivalent.
· Candidate must be able to demonstrate the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities listed at this grade level.
GS-6
· Completion of at least one 1 year of additional qualifying experience at the GS-5 level or equivalent, fully meeting all performance requirements for the GS-5 LPN/LVN.
