Position Summary: To support the organizational goals through effective instruction. The Defense Institute of Security Assistance Management (DISAM) serves as the Department of Defense single educational institution dedicated to the Security Assistance Community offering a multitude of courses for US government personnel in both the U.S. and overseas as part of a security assistance office (military and civilian), U.S. Industry, and International Customers/Foreign Purchases.
NOTE: Initial appointment is under Schedule B appointing authority, Excepted Appointment Not-to-Exceed 3 years. At the time of the expiration of the initial appointment an employee who adequately demonstrates professional competence can be extended in increments of 1, 2 or 3 years or for an indefinite period. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Successful completion of a degree from an accredited college or university that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject matter field appropriate to the position.
OR
B. Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in A above.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-12). Specialized experience is experience training, teaching, or instructing AND experience in security cooperation management in areas such as: Foreign Military Sales (FMS) process, logistics, finance, legislation and policy, International Program Security (IPS), acquisition, Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR) and Security Cooperation Office (SCO) operations.
