The VA St Louis Health Care System is a 2 campus, full-service tertiary referral center providing advanced inpatient and ambulatory care in medicine, surgery, psychiatry, neurology, and rehabilitation, as well as over 65 subspecialty areas, including the VA's busiest interventional cardiac program, interventional radiology and radiation oncology.
DUTY STATION: The duty station is at the Hope Recovery Center at John Cochran Division however, the duty station may be changed to one or multiple associated VAMC locations within the metropolitan St. Louis, MO area based on the needs of the medical center.

DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
The incumbent functions as the St. Louis VA Medical Center's HUD-VASH Supervisor and Social Work Supervisor for the HUD-VA and Social Work Supervisor for the HUD-VA Supportive Housing Program, which is aligned under the Homeless programs within Mental Health Services. The HUD-VASH program is located at the Hope Recovery Center and provides outreach, case management, and supportive housing for homeless and at-risk Veterans. The primary goal of HUD-VASH is to provide permanent supportive housing for homeless Veterans to support them in their recovery and end the cycle of homelessness.
Incumbent coordinates professional and multidisciplinary staff social workers at the GS-9-12 levels. As the supervisor, the incumbent assists in planning, establishing, and implementing policies and procedures, developing individual or group goals and objectives as well as monitoring, operating, evaluating coordinating and overseeing the social work and other staff of the assigned programs in the St. Louis HUD-VASH Program. The incumbent will conduct ongoing reviews and appraisals to ensure the accomplishment of objectives and adherence to standards set by governing bodies. The incumbent also provides direct clinical service.

Basic Requirements:
· U.S. citizenship. Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
· Education. Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Verification of the degree can be made by going to the CSWE website to verify if that social work degree meets the accreditation standards for a master of social work.
· Licensure. Licensed or certified by a state at the Advanced Practice level to independently practice social work.
· English Language Proficiency. Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Grade Determinations: In addition to the basic requirements for employment, the following criteria must be met when determining the grade of candidates.
GS-12 Qualifications
Individuals assigned as Supervisory Social Workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level and must be able to provide supervision for subordinate staff to qualify for licensure. Their experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment. They may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the professional KSAs in subparagraph (b) below.
1. Ability to independently organize work, set priorities, and meet multiple deadlines.
2. Knowledge and skill in management/administration, which includes supervision, consultation, negotiation, and monitoring.
3. Ability to ensure provision of clinical social work services by supervised social workers.
4. Ability to provide administrative supervision and clinical supervision, including supervision for social work licensure.
