Performs masonry and asphalt work and operates motor vehicles and engineer equipment in performing maintenance and construction work.Patches holes or worn places in asphalt pavement.Lays bricks, concrete blocks or broken up pieces of concrete in constructing catch basins, lead walls, steps and manholes.Runs levels, lines and squares needed for work and carries work through to completion.Repairs fences and paints crosswalks.Prepares road surfaces for repair by cleaning, priming, and determining the amount of asphalt required to complete the repair.Operates a 5-7 ton tandem roller as required in the maintenance and construction of asphalt roads and parking lots.Operates gasoline or diesel powered road sweepers equipped with heavy rotary brooms.Drives wheeled-type tractors with towing attachments such as augers and leveling blades.Drivers trucks with a 4-ton or greater capacity to haul personnel, articles and materials on and off of Fort Bragg.Performs operator maintenance on all equipment, including maintaining adequate fuel, oil and water levels.

Conditions of Employment:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Screen Out Elements: There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills and abilities to meet the Screen-Out Element. I have experience performing the work of an Roads Maintenance Worker tasks under normal supervision including inspecting asphalt to determine needed repairs, planning, laying out, and repairing road surfaces. Drives roller, manipulating controls to move backward and forward and to steer. Performs operator's maintenance on equipment such as filling with fuel, water, and making minors adjustments. Drives wheeled type tractor with towing attachments such as auger and leveling blades.
Failure to meet the screen out element will result in an ineligible rating.
You will be evaluated on following job elements:
Physical Effort: Performs heavy lifting in carrying materials. Required to stand and bend while working and to climb ladders and scaffolds. Heavy physical effort is used by the operator in constantly reaching, bending, turning, and moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to handle different sets of controls to operate the equipment and attachments. Considerable strain is caused by the constant vibration of the equipment and the jerking and jolting from operating over rough surfaces. Because of the location of some of the controls and attachments, the operator is frequently required to work in awkward or strained positions.
Working Conditions: Works inside and outside. Is exposed to dirt, dust, and soot in part of work. Some work is performed in all types of weather, often in an open driver's seat or platform, on hills, slopes, grades, rolling surfaces, and forests. The operator is exposed to injury due to the possibility of the equipment overturning. Subject to noise, vibration, dust dirt, and fumes from the motor and exhaust. May be required to wear and/or use protective equipment in accordance with established health and safety regulations and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
