A typical day in the life of a Clinical Psychologist!
- Performs the full range of psychological evaluations of active duty personnel with complex cases.
- Determines fitness for duty.
- Ensures patient emotional/behavioral conditions are identified and appropriated interventions are utilized.
- Serves as a consultant and advisor to hospital staff and command personnel concerning psychological dynamics, treatments, and behavior changes of military personnel.
- Generates and maintains a variety of clinical records and reports in keeping with pre-established criteria.
- Conducts psychotherapy in both individual and group settings.
REQUIREMENTS:
Selectee is required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit of pay program.

BASIC REQUIREMENT for Clinical Psychologist : All applicants must meet the following basic requirement:
Completion of all of the requirements for a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology (Ph.D, Psy.D, or equivalent) from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited university or professional school directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology. AND
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS: This position has selective placement factors: The selective placement factors are must possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, must hold a current State license in clinical psychology from a U.S. State, territory or district AND must possess an one year American Psychological Association (APA) accredited clinical internship OR APA accredited postdoctoral residency OR fellowship OR have attained board certification by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) OR Clinical Psychologist commissioned/employed in the Navy prior to March 27, 2015 who has completed an one year clinical internship. Failure to document or provide evidence of selective placement factors in your resume will result in an ineligible rating.
IN ADDITION TO THE BASIC REQUIREMENT AND SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS, APPLICANTS MUST MEET THE SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One or more years of progressively responsible experience as a Professional Clinical Psychologist evaluating, diagnosing and assessing a variety of acute and chronically ill patients with mental health disorders; applying psychological theories, principles to explain, or justify psychological diagnoses, conclusions, findings or treatment recommendations.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
