Home to over 15 tenant commands, NSA Monterey MWR (NSAM MWR) provides primary support to the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), Navy Research Lab (NRL), and the Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center (FNMOC). NPS is the largest producer of advanced graduate degrees for the Department of Defense and proudly graduates thousands every year from all services and from over 50 countries. NRL provides all scientific and weather modeling as well as atmospheric and aerosol studies. FNMOC provides the highest quality, most relevant and timely worldwide Meteorology and Oceanography support to U.S. and coalition forces from FNMOC’s 24x7 Operations Center in Monterey.

Duties support the Community Recreation program, including Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) special events, information and resources, command and community events, trips, tours, outings, tickets, liberty, leisure skill classes and outdoor recreation. Provides information concerning facilities and hours of operation. Ensures adherence to regulations and safety procedures. Incumbent must exercise tact, good manners and courtesy when serving and assisting customers. This will be expressed by tactfully responding to patron inquiries and assisting in a prompt and friendly manner. May assist in maintaining routine reports and/or perform clerical, custodial and/or general maintenance. May operate a cash register, receive payments and make change. Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality. Performs other related duties as required.
A background check is a requirement of this position.
Obtain Emergency First Responder or CPR certification, Food Handlers and C.A.R.E training where applicable within the first 90 days of employment.
Must hold a high school diploma or GED. Must be able to learn MWR policies, rules and regulations involving the work area, and have the ability to communicate orally and in writing. Knowledge of basic mathematics is required.
