Performs maintenance on the electrical system of the turrets. Repairs the stabilization control systems, circuit breakers, distribution boxes, cables, and wiring system, points and all other electrical components in the turret. Replaces Line Replaceable Units (LRUs). Tests and repairs electrical test sets that are used to test the electrical systems of the tank turret. Follows schematic diagrams and relays to determine if there is malfunction in the test equipment. Repairs the hydraulic system, which provides the pressure to elevate and traverse the gun and rotate the turret. Repairs hydraulic valves which control the motion to ensure safety, these are controlled by electrical solenoids. Repairs the hydraulic motors, the elevating systems, the recoil systems and all other hydraulic parts and components in the turret. Repairs all mechanical parts involved in turret traversing, such as the traversing gearbox including the clutch assembly, and turret races including cupola bearings. Repairs the gears and bearings in the gearbox. Repairs all small gear drive components including those required to raise and lower the gun. Services the gun by exercising the recoil system to check for leaks in the seals. Borescopes the gun tube to check for wear. Makes recoil adapter readings to determine that the adapter and collar are serviceable. May also work on howitzers, and other less complex equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.

Military Assignment: Occupants of this position must maintain continuous military membership in the North Carolina Army National Guard (NCARNG). Assignment to a compatible Enlisted (E9 & below) position in the NCARNG is mandatory. (ENL MOS: 91, 94, 13B, 13Z)
Security Clearance: Employment is subject to attaining and maintaining a security clearance as required by the position (ANACI minimum).
Direct Deposit: The applicant selected for this position will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer Program.
Other Requirements:Must be able to pass an operator's test for forklift equipment up to 10,000 lbs. For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 18 months experience or training demonstrating a broad knowledge in repairing, rebuilding, modifying and testing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems and major components of artillery systems. Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and determining needed repairs in artillery systems. Experience demonstrating the ability to inspect artillery systems. Experience which demonstrates the ability to develop test standards. Experience interpreting and applying drawings, schematics, blueprints, diagrams and specifications.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs). KSAs listed below will be used in the selection process. KSAs are important to the entire selection process and should be addressed specifically and completely within your job experience portions of your resume.
1. Thorough knowledge of the mechanical makeup, operation, and working relationships of complex systems, assemblies, and parts for a variety of combat vehicle weapon systems.
2. Ability to diagnose, repair, overhaul, and modify a variety of combat vehicle weapon systems.
3. Knowledge of electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and other non-mechanical systems that have a functional relationship and effect on the operation of mechanical systems.
4. Knowledge of hydraulic lifting, loading, turning, and positioning systems and their mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic controls.
5. Knowledge of electronics, sufficient to identify and replace defective components, such as sensors, diodes, and circuit boards.
6. Skill to use a wide variety of test and diagnostics equipment to perform fault isolation and conduct repair of combat vehicle weapons systems. Ability to operate and understand original equipment manufacturer computerized diagnostic equipment and embedded diagnostics.
7. Ability to utilize, interpret and apply parts list, manufacturer's repair manuals, technical manuals, diagrams, engineering drawings, diagnostic computer information, and schematics.
QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidate experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on rank; however, established compatibility criteria must be followed.
