The primary purpose of this position is: to enforce laws, rules, regulations, procedures, and operating methods to independently perform routine, recurring kinds of fixed post and patrol assignments, to maintain law and order, preserve the peace, and protect life and civil rights within the jurisdiction of the military installation.
Major Duties
· Performs and enforces police officer duties within the military installation.
· Performs the full range of Base Entry Controller duties.
· Performs the full range of duties for defending protection level resources.
ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
· Must pass an initial pre-employment medical examination, periodic medical examinations, required initial and annual physical fitness/physical agility tests, meet established hearing standards and discern colors, contrast and depth. The incumbent must immediately report to their supervisor any significant medical threshold shifts in health status and/or medication requirements.
· Must wear a uniform and meet applicable dress & appearance standards as identified in current AFI.
· May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty, to include nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, rotating shifts, and recall.
· May be required to wear special protective clothing such as coats, boots, and vests, and/or chemical protective equipment, (e.g. respirator mask).
· Must undergo initial and periodic job compatibility assessments.
· Subject to annual duty position evaluation on a pass/fail standard.
· Must pass initial formal law enforcement training school as determined by functional, a certificate from a federally recognized Law Enforcement Academy is preferred.
· Incumbent is required to obtain first responder training/certifications required in CPR techniques, self-aid buddy care, & first aid on the job and maintain annually.
· Recurring training is required to keep the employee knowledgeable on the updated specialized tactics, techniques & procedures necessary for preparation & response to catastrophic events, terrorist attacks & related threats to installations.
· Ability to employ infantry/SWAT' small unit tactics involving fire & maneuver, with rapid advancing movement between defensive positions, while wearing protective gear for extended periods of time, e.g.; Employing "Active Shooter" response tactics & techniques as a member of a small team is required.
· This position is not designated as a key position IAW AFI 36-507. Duties of this position may be locally determined to be essential to the accomplishment of wartime/contingency operations. Employees of key positions must be removed from their military recall status if alternatives for filling of the position during an emergency are not available.
· This position may fall under the Standard Premium Pay Provisions under Title 5 USC.
· Employee is required to obtain and maintain required security clearance.
Basic Qualification Requirement(s): In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement. 1. Specialized Experience: You must have at least one (1) year of experience encompassing apprehension and detention authority, carrying a firearm, mirandizing suspects, preserving evidence, performing investigations, physical and personal security operations, and entry control duties. This experience must have been at a level of difficulty and complexity sufficient to demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of this position. It may have been gained in the private sector, volunteer service, military service, and/or government service, etc.
OR,
2. Education: Education above 4 years of high school. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.
OR,
3. Combination of Experience/Education: You must have a combination of the specialized experience and education as described in "1" and "2" above that equals 100 percent when combined to equal the required 1 year of specialized experience needed for this position.
