This is the full performance level for the KT. As a Kinesiotherapist, you will perform therapeutic duties. The Kinesiotherapist carries out assignment independently with minimal direct supervision. The incumbent is responsible for developing, organizing and administering Kinesiotherapy programs to provide therapeutic treatment in various areas, e.g., general medical and surgical inpatient and outpatient, spinal cord injury, psychiatric, clinics, Adult Day Care Program, seating/wheelchair clinic, and on wards on a rotating basis.
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
1. Assembles pre-evaluation data
2. Interprets medical record
3. Reviews therapy prescriptions; interprets and administers physician's exercise prescription
4. Devises specific activities and routines
5. Develops therapeutic programs for various types of disabilities
6. Schedules patients for treatment and integrates activities with other treatments
Work Schedule: The tour of duty is 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday thru Friday. There may be some instances where the incumbent would be required to work after 4:30 p.m., or have the flexibility to work outside the normal tour of duty this include weekends and/or holidays.

Physical Requirements. Basic Requirements:
U.S. Citizen. Must be a US Citizen. Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.
Education: A bachelor's degree in kinesiotherapy, or exercise science with an emphasis in kinesiotherapy, from an accredited college or university. This education must have included or been supplemented by clinical practice in a VA approved training program or its equivalent.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
English Language Proficiency: Kinesiotherapists must be proficient in spoken and written English.
Grade Requirements: Creditable experience - Knowledge of Professional Kinesiotherapy practice. To be creditable, the experience must demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics associated with current kinesiotherapy practice as outlined in the current scope and standards of practice for kinesiotherapy. One of the following may have evidenced this:
A. The equivalent of 1 year active practice. Active practice means paid/non-paid employment as a kinesiotherapist as defined by COPS-KT.
B. Academic course work leading to an advanced degree in kinesiotherapy or exercise science.
Part-Time Experience: Part-time experience as a professional KT is credited according to its relationship to the full-time workweek. For example, a KT would receive 1 week of full-time credit for each 2 weeks of half-time work.
Graduate Education: Graduate degrees may be substituted for experience through the GS-11 level. Graduate degrees must be from a college or university that was regionally or nationally accredited at the time the candidate completed the program. To substitute the graduate degree, it must have been completed after the individual met the basic requirements for appointment.
Content Specialty: Specialized content areas of kinesiotherapy include, but are not limited to, geriatrics, cardiopulmonary, orthopedics, driver training, traumatic brain injury (TBI), spinal cord injury (SCI), and Preservation-Amputation Care and Treatment (PACT).
