The Oklahoma City Veterans Affairs Health Care System is seeking staff Psychiatrist(s) for Psychiatry service, which is affiliated with the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. These are Psychiatry tele-mental health positions located in Oklahoma City servicing both the Oklahoma City and Muskogee Oklahoma veteran population.
The Psychiatrist is expected to possess strong clinical skills to provide treatment for a range of mental health disorders relevant to Veterans and will provide a wide range of care including high risk assessment and referral; intake/diagnostic and assessments; comprehensive treatment planning using patient centered and recovery-based models; evidence-based individual, group, and family therapy services to Veterans and their families; and case/care management services.
The incumbent will provide consultations and direct care for veterans manifesting a wide variety of psychiatric and psychosocial problems via telemedicine technology while carrying a tele-psychiatry caseload and providing consultation to other mental health and non-mental health clinical programs.
The primary duties of this position will be determined by the Service Chief and are expected to be flexible based upon clinical needs, include, but are not limited to the following: Reviews all reports, laboratory procedures, and consultations and available remotely via tele-mental health.
The incumbent may rotate with other physicians on a monthly roster for weekend/holiday coverage, and week night backup for residents; and through affiliated institutions, may participate in education and training of psychiatry residents, medical students, psychology interns, and allied health trainees. As time permits, may participate in research projects. May be assigned to various programs within Mental Health Service depending on fluctuating staffing patterns and workloads.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, rotating nights and weekends may be required.

Physical Requirements: Candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment physical. Position requires walking, standing, reading typewritten material without strain, ability to hear conversational voice, emotional and mental stability, and working closely with others.
