Physical Demands: The employee must be capable of operating two and four-wheel drive motor vehicles, primarily pickups, over various kinds of terrain and driving surfaces, occasionally under adverse weather conditions. Field work also involves walking and climbing, sometimes in rugged terrain and in high temperatures. The employee maybe required to work in caves, which could involve spending long periods of time in the caves, crawling on hands and knees, and climbing, using specialized climbing equipment and techniques. The employee maybe required to perform fire suppression duties, depending on his/her interest and level of experience and training in wildfire suppression.
Work Environment: Most work is performed in a typical office setting. Field work may involve working in isolated areas with summer temperatures exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit and winter temperatures that drop well below freezing due to the windchill factor. The employee may need to work long hours or on weekends to assist volunteers and to administer recreation permits. Work in caves may present special hazards resulting from pits, passages and cliff faces, and exposure to diseases harbored in dust and animal droppings.

Conducts or manages most aspects of the outdoor recreation program. Major program elements include recreation management, visual resource management, wilderness management, and off-road vehicle management. Provides the Field Office assistance on the cave management program by issuing permits, monitoring use, working with volunteers, or helping with other cave management duties. Prepares and implements activity level management plans for recreation management that are based on RMP-level use planning decisions. Provides assistance to management in preparing annual budgets based on land use planning. Prepares environmental assessments for Outdoor recreation management activities, and serves as a team member in the preparation and review of environmental analysis for projects related to oil and gas leasing and exploration, mineral materials sales and other Bureau or industry sponsored projects. Utilization of Automation equipment (hardware and software), data systems, Global Position systems (GIS), and applications to accomplish the duties of this positions.
You will need to clearly state your undergraduate/graduate degree(s) and submit your college transcripts or a listing of your college courses that includes hours and grades.
This position does not have a positive education requirement, however you may qualify based on your education.
