Performs both routine and moderate complex radiographic procedure. He/she explains the procedures to be performed to patients, positions them correctly, selects and sets adequate technical factors necessary to produce exams of good quality. Performs all types of routine exams including the following areas: skull, mastoids, sinuses, facial bones, chest, spine, KUB, obstructive series, bones and joints and others. Exam is performed in all types of patients including medically and psychiatrically ill, unconscious and others. Operates computerized radiography as well as conventional Radiology equipment.Captures computerized radiographs, applies an algorithm, configures the image and verifies patient information before transmitting them to the picture archive system. The procedure requires the technologist to have a general knowledge of computer operations. Image manipulation and transmission is critical in computerized radiography. Lost data can only be recaptured by repeating the radiography. Performs portable exams to very ill patients at different wards. Must assist radiologist to perform fluoroscopy procedures/examinations and enter in room: preparing all supplies and equipment needed, preparing the contrast media and other medications required, administering oral contrast, preparing and positioning patient. This includes gastrointestinal and genitourinary exams, arthrograms, sialograms, and enteroclysis, video modified barium swallows, defecograms and myelography (cervical, thoracic, and lumbar). Will perform operating room exams such as Cholangiography, pre-and post-reductions and others. Will operate the C-arm unit for fluoroscopy and take films as a required by surgeons. Must maintain examining room organized and well supplied with necessary equipment, contrast materials, linen and all other supplies required to performed radiographic exams. Must comply with Infectious Control measures, uses personal protective equipment (PPE) as established in Radiology Service Infectious Control Manual. Must rotate thru various radiographic rooms to keep up his/her experience in all fields of technical knowledge.
WORK SCHEDULE:Rotating Shifts to include days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and the clinics from MOPC and POPC. Shifts will varies depending on the scheduling needs of the service.

Physical Requirements: The work requires long periods of standing and walking. There is some bending and carrying of moderately heavy articles such as film cassettes, treatment devices, and molds with heavier lifting of wedges and specially designed shielding blocks. Patients often are assisted to achieve proper positioning, which may require reaching, lifting, or working in strained positions. The deterioration of the patient due to disease progression often requires lifting of the patient from stretchers or wheelchairs to treatment and examination tables utilizing special techniques designed to minimize the discomfort of the patient. Basic Requirements:

Grade Determinations:
GS-5 Experience and Education: None beyond the basic requirements.
GS-6 EXPERIENCE: At least 1 year of experience at the next lower grade level that demonstrates the core competencies described at that level, i.e., experience that demonstrates possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities, and other characteristics needed to provide general radiologic technology services in a therapeutic setting; OR, EDUCATION: The successful completion of a 4-year baccalaureate degree program in radiography or other directly related field to diagnostic radiology/imaging. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the following Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 1. Knowledge of basic technique standards for minimum radiographic exposure; 2. Knowledge of anatomy and positioning; 3. Knowledge of all patient safety procedures; 4. Knowledge of radiographic producing equipment; and 5. Ability to learn basic computer functions.
GS-7 EXPERIENCE: At least 1 year of experience at the next lower grade level that demonstrates the core competencies described at that level, i.e., experience that demonstrates possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics needed to provide general radiologic technology services in a therapeutic setting and/or in a specialized area OR EDUCATION: The successful completion of 1 full academic year of graduate education leading to a degree program in radiography or other directly related field related to diagnostic radiology/imaging. Education may relate to the duties of a specific position or to the occupation, but must be appropriate for the position being filled. Certification. Certification by ARRT in one of the specialized areas of radiologic technology is highly desirable, in addition to certification by ARRT as a general radiologic technologist. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the following KSAs: 1. Knowledge of the technical adequacy of the digital image, including the ability to adjust the image quality in the digital system; 2. Knowledge of different contrast material required for the requested study; 3. Knowledge of radiation protection standards, minimum radiographic exposure techniques, appropriate beam limitation to anatomical area, and employing lead shielding when performing standard or fluoroscopic procedures; 4. Knowledge of the function of computed radiography, Phosphor cassettes and computed radiography (CR) readers; 5. Knowledge of PACS systems, CDROMS, and basic computer skills
GS-8 EXPERIENCE: In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the following KSAs: 1.
