NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED
: This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. This position performs as the Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Mechanic and is responsible for the maintenance of the total system and components. This position is located in the UAS unit or facility of the Army National Guard (ARNG) Brigade Combat Team organization supporting Tactical Unmanned Aircraft Systems (TUAS).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs Quality Assurance (QA) inspections and evaluations of unit or facility performed unmanned aircraft system maintenance and repair, in support of organizational, intermediate, and/or depot maintenance on the entire RQ-7B "Shadow" equipment set to the unit or facility. Inspections are performed in working areas such as flight-lines, field sites or hangars, and support shops. Reviews work order requests and inspects for correctness and proper format to ensure completeness and audit capability. Serves as the primary point of contact for the notification, reporting, and implementation of all Aviation and Ground Safety messages as they pertain to the assigned unit equipment. Functions as the primary UAS maintenance liaison between the State Army Aviation officials. Conducts compliance inspections of UAS maintenance forms and records and monitors files of required forms and records applicable to specifications. Ensures that Government property is controlled and properly maintained. Provides technical assistance on all UAS maintenance matters to UAS operators, UAS maintenance crews or contractor support personnel. Operates light motor vehicles, up to two and a half ton, to transport self and others to work sites that are remote from the immediate shop facility, between installation airfields, or emergency repair sites when required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Experience or training that has provided the candidate with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications. Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification. Experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow. Must have the ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container.
QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather thans trictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience and/or training must show possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position.
