These nursing positions are located in the Clinical Center Nursing Department (CCND) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Clinical Center (CC), in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The Clinical Nurse GS-11 reports directly to the Nurse Manager for a unit or clinic within the specialty area with a direct patient care assignment designated within the program of care.
The National Institutes of Health (NIH), Clinical Center (CC), is the 200-bed research hospital and ambulatory care research facility in Bethesda, Maryland that supports the Intramural Research Program of the National Institutes of Health. You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS- 09 level in the Federal Government. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Examples of qualifying experience include: assisting with coordinating and facilitating the execution of clinical research and clinical trials in the area of pediatric care; assist in the design of research protocols; providing and eliciting input concerning the impact on available resources and discusses findings/recommendations; recruiting and screening new patients and assessing their eligibility for clinical trials; providing patient and family counseling, health education, and serving as a patient advocate along with other health care professionals; monitoring of participates in clinical research; carrying out clinical research procedures; assembling data for reporting to committees or organizations that oversee clinical research studies; advising staff; and role modeling professional practices, collaborations and effective communications with patients, families and affected communities.

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. Graduate-level education must have been in nursing with a concentration in a field of nursing or in a closely related non-nursing field directly applicable to the requirements of the position to be filled.

A combination of post baccalaureate education and experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.
