MAJOR DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Current permanent National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) employees with competitive status, Land Management Workforce Flexibility Act eligibles, and USDA CTAP/RPL eligibles.
• Subject to satisfactory completion of a one year supervisory/managerial probationary period.
Time in grade:
Applicants must meet one year at the next lower grade to be considered for the next higher grade. (e.g. one year at the GS-14 grade level for consideration for the GS-15 grade level.)
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by 11:59 pm Eastern Time on the closing date of the announcement including the following specialized experience and/or education, as identified by grade level.
Basic Requirements:
A. Degree:
That includes 15 semester hours in statistics (or in mathematics and statistics, provided at least 6 semester hours were in statistics), and 9 additional semester hours in one or more of the following: physical or biological sciences, medicine, education, or engineering; or in the social sciences including demography, history, economics, social welfare, geography, international relations, social or cultural anthropology, health sociology, political science, public administration, psychology, etc. Credit will be given toward meeting statistical course requirements for courses in which 50 percent of the course content appears to be statistical methods, e.g., courses that included studies in research methods in psychology or economics such as tests and measurements or business cycles, or courses in methods of processing mass statistical data such as tabulating methods or electronic data processing.

B. Combination of education and experience:
Courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The experience should have included a full range of professional statistical work such as (a) sampling, (b) collecting, computing, and analyzing statistical data, and (c) applying statistical techniques such as measurement of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis of variance, and tests of significance.
Note: Transcripts are required to verify basic requirements. If non-statistical courses will be used to meet the statistical semester hour requirement, please provide information showing the course material contained at least 50% statistical content, (i.e. letter from professor or course description).
Minimum Qualifications:
In addition to the basic qualification requirements listed above, applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to Federal service which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, qualifying levels of education or a combination of education and experience.
Specialized Experience:
GS-15: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 planning, directing, and coordinating the implementation and execution of approved policies and programs; reviewing and evaluation survey program operations and activities; and planning, organizing and directing staff assigned to work on surveys.
