Officially established in October 2006, the Orlando VA Medical Center serves more than 105,000 Veterans in Central Florida and includes a 120-bed Community Living Center, two Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Programs/Domiciliaries (60-beds located at the Lake Nona Campus and 58-beds at the Lake Baldwin Campus), three large multi-specialty Satellite Outpatient Clinics in Orlando (Lake Baldwin campus), Viera and Daytona Beach, and four Community-Based Outpatient Clinics located in Clermont, Kissimmee, Orange City, and Tavares. The new medical center at Lake Nona is open for outpatient and inpatient services and will continue to expand inpatient beds, Emergency Services, and other specialty services throughout 2017. As VA's newest state-of-the-art health care facility, Orlando's 65-acre medical campus encompasses 134 acute inpatient beds, providing complex Medical/Surgical/Mental Health specialty care, advanced diagnostic services, and a large multispecialty outpatient clinic.

The incumbent will serve as Chief of Dental Services and will be assigned to the Orlando VAMC, Orlando, FL. The position is located in the Lake Nona VA Medical Center. The incumbent is directly accountable to the Deputy Chief of Staff. The chosen candidate will be responsible for the overall dental care of patient's at all local sites of care which include the OVAMC, Viera OPC, Lake Baldwin OPC and Daytona OPC. The incumbent will oversee both the administrative and clinical aspects of the Dental Service which includes a Residency Program.
In addition to the administrative duties of this position, the incumbent would be expected to perform clinical duties associated with his/her clinical specialty. The successful candidate should possess basic computer skills. Additionally, applicant will be the subject matter expert on oral health and will serve as the local liaison to dental professional organizations, other government agencies and non-VA service providers as well as other departments within the facility. Applicant will be expected to work with the VISN Lead Dentist to assure that national and VISN policy is implemented.
