NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED
: This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Army National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
This position is located in the Organizational Maintenance Section of a
Mobilization and Training Equipment Site (MATES) or Unit Training
Equipment Site (UTES). Its purpose is to perform organizational maintenance,
inspection and minor repair on small arms and related devices supported by
the MATES/UTES.

WHO CAN APPLY:
GROUP I - All qualified Male/Female Enlisted Personnel currently employed (permanent) Enlisted Personnel (Not to Exceed E7/SFC) in the Virginia Army National Guard Military Technician Program.
GROUP II - All qualified Virginia Army National Guard Male/Female Enlisted Personnel (Not to Exceed E7/SFC) regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician, or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia Army National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period.
MILITARY CRITERIA: Applicant must be qualified and eligible for award of an MOS as follows: CMF: 89, 91, 92
MILITARY ASSIGNMENT : Applicant selected for this military technician position must occupy a military assignment in the Virginia Army National Guard that ensures proper grade, unit, and MOS prior to placement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs organizational and limited direct support maintenance inspection and
repair on a number of small arms such as: machine guns, mortars, recoilless
rifles, automatic pistols, mounts, elevating assemblies, etc. Performs inspections of organizational maintenance level work necessary on
small arms, tripods, mounts, elevating assemblies and components supported by
the activity, ranging from shop acceptance to identifying repairs and
maintenance required, to final inspection. Inspects small arms, mounts, elevating assemblies and other components prior
to issue to units for use during Inactive Duty Training (IDT) and Annual
Training (AT) to ensure that they are operating properly. As assigned, receives, stores, issues, and prepares for shipment Basic ISSUe
Items (BII), Components of End Item (COEI) and Items Troop Installed or
Authorized/Additional Authorization List (ITIA/AAL) of major end items of
equipment positioned at the MATES/UTES. Issues items to units for use during
Annual Training (AT) and Inactive Duty Training (IDT). Receives items from
units at the end of the training period and stores in warehouse according to
warehouse locator system.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- Selectee may be subject to a one-year probationary/trial period.
- Possess or be able to acquire and maintain a Secret security clearance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Experience or training which demonstrates a working knowledge to read and interpret instructions, repair manual, specifications and drawings; must have a knowledge of shop mathematics sufficient to use testing devices and measuring instruments; and be proficient in the use and maintenance of hand tools and equipment.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training in using and maintaining a variety of hand and power tools and gages is required. Tools include drills, files, saws, hammers, vises and precision gages and measuring instruments such as micrometers, optical comparators, ultrasonic checkers, magnafluxing machines and/or borescopes to determine when parts are worn or damaged beyond acceptable tolerances. Experience in applying technical manuals, regulations, specifications and drawings to determine operation, assembly and a tolerance of the variety of weapons cleaned, repaired and modified.
