Works at the U.S. Army Public Health Command (USAPHC) in Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance (EDS) on the Behavioral and Social Health Outcomes Program (BSHOP). Serves as a technical expert and advisor in the respective fields of sociology, psychology, or social work, as well as public health with a focus on analysis and response to trends in behavioral and social health outcomes in the military beneficiary population. Plans and executes investigations of clusters/outbreaks, focused behavioral health projects, and comprehensive behavioral and social health outcomes research. This work encompasses the identification and characterization of population based risk factors for behavioral health; the evaluation of population health metrics; the evaluation of existing control measures; and, the recommendation to local/regional/national military health authorities of effective preventive measures to reduce the incidence of such illnesses or outcomes.

You must meet BOTH Minimum Education Requirement and Specialized Experience to qualify for this position.
Minimum Education Requirement:
Psychology 0180: Degree: Psychology, major or equivalent in psychology. (NOTE: You must provide college transcripts to support educational claims.)
Sociologist 0184: Degree: Sociology; or social psychology or political science that included at least 24 semester hours in sociology. (NOTE: You must provide college transcripts to support educational claims.)
OR
Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in sociology (i.e., at least 24 semester hours), plus appropriate experience or additional education. (NOTE: You must provide college transcripts to support educational claims.)
Social Worker - 0185: Degree: Social Work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (NOTE: You must provide college transcripts to support educational claims.)
Specialized Experience:
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: 1) analyzing trends in behavioral and social health outcomes; 2) planning and executing behavioral and social health investigations; and 3) preparing behavioral and social health related technical reports.
The one year specialized experience must be equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal Service.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:
