Responsible for geotechnical engineering investigations of flood control projects supporting the Dam Safety Production Center. Use technical understanding of geotechnical engineering and design properties of native soils. Optimize geotechnical engineering designs using soil mechanics, engineering practice, regulations, and risk and reliability assessment principles. Serve as technical coordinator or lead engineer for assigned projects. Responsible for developing quality control plans and design cost estimates. Lead multi-discipline teams in the development of design products, such as engineering technical appendices for feasibility studies, dam safety modification study reports, design documentation reports (DDRs) and plans and specifications. Perform surficial and subsurface geotechnical investigations. Conduct design studies and analyses for dam safety projects. Prepare geotechnical design reports, review geotechnical design submissions prepared by other engineers.

GS-13:

other civil works projects, and 2) Manage dams, levees, and/or other civil
works projects where risk based principles are used. This definition of
specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower
grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
