The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of the Inspector General (OIG) exposes and prevents fraud, waste, abuse, and misconduct across DOJ programs and personnel while promoting the DOJ's economy and efficiency. To carry out its audit mission, the OIG auditors and program analysts research, prepare, and issue reports, advisories, briefings, and congressional testimonies with recommendations focused on improving the effectiveness and efficiency of important DOJ programs and functions. The OIG performs audits at the request of Congress and initiates engagements that support its strategic plan. This position is located in the Office of Data Analytics.

Specific duties at the GS-9 level include:
· Applying statistical theories, concepts and principles to the work.
· Using standard methodology in obtaining and analyzing data and information on a broad range of issues.
· Exercising independent responsibility for applying established technology in routine ways to well defined, moderate-sized mathematical statistics projects, or in support of a larger project.
· Preparing preliminary reports according to established procedures.
In addition to those listed at the GS-9 level, specific duties at the GS-11 level include:
· Assessing and implementing a model for each project by customizing a sample design using appropriate descriptive statistics, exploratory data analysis, sample size determination, and inferential statistical analysis.
· Reviewing various software and develop technical documentation with recommendations that help with process improvements as well as developing policies and guidance.
· Preparing training materials and conducting training sessions about various advanced analytical techniques.
· Providing guidance and advice to all levels of senior management in all aspects of advanced analytical techniques that help improve processes, planning strategies, resource allocations, and ad-hoc requirements.

Recent Graduate Program Eligibility:
To meet these requirements, you must have obtained a qualifying associate's, bachelor's, master's, professional, doctoral, or technical/vocational degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution within the previous 2 years.
Preference-eligible veterans who have been precluded from applying due to their military service obligation have as much as 6 years after acquiring a qualifying degree to apply.
