This is an interdisciplinary position and may be filled by a General Engineer (0801), Physicist (1310), Operations Research (1515), Mathematician (1520) or Computer Scientist (1550), depending on the qualifications of the candidate.
This position is a Manager ND-05 (GS-14/15 equivalent) located at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Panama City Florida and serves as a Division Head for the Applied Sensing and Processing Branch (X24), responsible for oversight and execution of a diverse portfolio of projects involving theoretical and numerical techniques and technology developments in areas of advanced mathematical techniques suitable for use in mine countermeasures, littoral warfare, and surveillance and reconnaissance applications.

As a Manager your duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
· Overseeing the professional development of others to enable success in work.
· Leading a diverse technical team to resolve challenges and complex problems.
· Maintaining awareness of acoustic and non-acoustic sensor processing techniques to address current MIW, Explosive Ordinance Disposal, and Special Warfare requirements.
· Reviewing project plans to develop technical approaches that promote programmatic consistency.
· Preparing and justifying budgets and plans to ensure cost efficient execution.

For Professional Engineering Series - Substitution of Education/Experience (0801): Combination of education and experience that is equivalent to a professional engineering degree. Professional Engineering Registration to demonstrate the adequacy of education and experience. or- Combination of education and experience that is equivalent to a professional engineering degree. Successfully passed the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) examination, which demonstrates the adequacy of education and experience. or- Successful completion of a degree with at least 60 semester hours of courses in physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences, and in professional engineering curriculum (as described above). or- Successful completion of a degree in engineering technology or in an appropriate professional field, (e.g., physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology) and at least 1 year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance.
