Position Summary: To serve as a professional mechanical engineer responsible for systems engineering for assigned programs/projects. MAJOR DUTIES:
· Performs professional mechanical engineering work in support of the acquisition, development, or sustainment of armament systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT/OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS:
1. A Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or a related field or the equivalent is required. Graduate work or an advanced degree in engineering is desirable.
2. Work will occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
3. The work may require an employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate valid driver's license may be required for the position.
4. The incumbent of this position must be able to obtain and maintain the necessary and required security clearance.
5. This position has been designated as an acquisition position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). Work requires the appropriate APDP certification Level 2 Systems Planning, Research, Development and Engineering-Systems Engineering (SPRDE-SE).
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-11) or equivalent.
