This position is located in the Industrial Hygiene Office, Branch Medical Clinic, Fallon, Nevada. The selectee is responsible for conducting industrial hygiene surveys and other functions on a scheduled or emergency basis to evaluate a wide variety of occupational health hazards which encompass a broad spectrum of work activities. Plans and carries out a comprehensive Industrial Hygiene Program for the Medical Facility, NAS Fallon, all squadrons, Tenant Commands, and Hawthorne, Nevada.

Demands:
The work involves conducting investigations and surveys at a wide range of
industrial complexes which required moderate physical exertion such as carrying
equipment, standing, walking, bending, climbing and other related movements in
and around the worksite.

This position has a Basic Education Requirement:
Degree in industrial hygiene or a branch of engineering, physical science, or life science from an accredited college or university that included 12 semester hours in chemistry, including organic chemistry, and 18 additional semester hours of courses in any combination of chemistry, physics, engineering, health physics, environmental health, biostatistics, biology, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology, or industrial hygiene. Courses in the history or teaching of chemistry are not acceptable
In addition to meeting the basic qualification requirements:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Creditable specialized experience includes: conducting industrial hygiene inspections of workplace environments to assess work practices and environmental conditions for hazards to the health and safety of workers, conduct professionally written industrial hygiene surveys; evaluate physical and chemical hazards such as noise, explosives, ionizing, and non-ionizing radiation, ventilation, pesticides within a workplace environment; utilize and calibrate industrial hygiene measurement equipment such as indoor air quality meters, infrared analyzers, and moisture meters to evaluate environment stresses; perform industrial hygiene inspections; provide professionally written industrial hygiene reports with recommendations to eliminate or reduce chemical and physical stressors within work environments.
Certification: ABIH Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)" is desired, but not required.
