The VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System is recruiting for a full-time Chief of Behavioral Health Service.
The candidate for this position is charged with overseeing the delivery of the best possible Behavioral Health Care services to our Veteran patients. As a Service Chief your duties may include administrative skills as well as the ability to provide patient care and supervise trainees in all healthcare settings. Responsibilities of the position include patient care; supervising providers and staff in the service; assigning work responsibilities; determining direction of service; development and implementation of policies, and procedures; oversight of administrative and programmatic resources; oversight of clinical competencies; leading efforts with Joint Commission accreditation; and strong interpersonal skills and expertise.
Work Schedule: Flexible tours with on call which can include early morning, evening and weekend hours as the need arises.

Basic Requirements:
(a) the respecialization program must be completed in an APA or a CPA accredited doctoral program; and
(b) the specialty in which the applicant is retrained must be consistent with the assignment for which the applicant is to be employed.
NOTE: The applicant must provide an official transcript and/or certificate documenting the completion of the respecialization program, which includes completion of an APA or CPA internship.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including
volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps,
AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic;
religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical
competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and
experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying
experience, including volunteer experience.
Grade Determinations: At least 3 years of experience as a professional psychologist, with at least one year equivalent to the GS-13 level.
