This position is located in the Nursing Department of the Inpatient Adult/Peds Nursing Department with the Crownpoint Health care Facility, Crownpoint, NM. The incumbent evaluates the Nursing needs of patients, developing a plan of nursing care, initiates patient care assignments, implementing and modifying them as needs change; provides or directs the provision of comprehensive nursing care. Delegating duties to appropriate personnel, teaching and reviewing their work as needed. At times, will provide clinical nurse duties. This position will be reporting to the Supervisory Clinical Nurse for Inpatient Nursing Care. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): EDUCATION: Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant.
IN ADDITION TO BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level to qualify for the GS-10.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and the is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Examples of the type of experience that will be credited are carrying out the duties of providing clinical management in Inpatient department and providing comprehensive professional nursing duties for the care of patients with a variety of injuries and illnesses.
LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must possess active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States, Knowledge of and skills in current professional nursing practices are required in the particular field of nursing for the position being filled.
Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
This position meets the criteria specified in pillar number one of the five pillars of the PHS Commissioned Corps.
