The selectee for this position serves as a
Logistics Management Specialist within Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) or
Naval Supply Command (NAVSUP).
Logistics management encompasses maintenance planning and logistics planning
from the concept development phases of the life cycle; the integration and
management of maintenance/logistics support elements throughout the life cycle;
the projection and adjustment of logistics requirements during the operational
phases of the life cycle through to retirement; and the planning and
implementation status of modification programs and the management of various
logistics programs during the life cycle. Incumbents provide support from
concept refinement and technology development through disposal to ensure
maintainability, readiness, supportability, and affordability

These positions are concerned with directing, developing, or performing logistics management operations that involve planning, coordinating, or evaluating the logistical actions required to support an aircraft, weapons system, or other designated program. The work involves (1) identifying the specific requirements for money, manpower, material, facilities, and services needed to support the program and (2) correlating those requirements with program plans to assure that the needed support is provided at the right time and place.
Listed below are some examples of Logistic Management Specialist work:
· Identify all activities that will be involved in providing needed logistical support;
· Integrate the actions required of each activity into a comprehensive logistics plan in support of or to be incorporated into overall program plans;
· Monitor progress toward meeting the logistics plan and to identify the cause and impact of delays or other problems (varying degrees of responsibility for taking actions to prevent or overcome such problems may also be included);

· Evaluate plans for and provision of logistical support for feasibility, efficiency, and economy, and to develop alternatives when required.

have on schedules.
D. Have three years of experience that involved requisitioning supplies
or equipment, controlling the flow of National Stock Number requests,
inventory, storage, cataloging, or similar work.
E. Have at least 3 years of post-high school education and at least 3
months of experience as described in "C."
F. Have less than 4 years of post-high school education or a bachelor's
degree and less than the experience described in "D," but have a
combination of education and the type of experience described in "D."

GS-07 (Resume must demonstrate at least
one of the following; if using education to qualify you MUST submit a copy of
your transcript):
A. Completed a 4-year course of study leading to a
bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution authorized to
grant baccalaureate degrees AND meet one of the provision of Superior Academic
Achievement. 1. A standing in the upper third of your college class or major
subdivision (e.g. school of business) at the time you apply. 2. A grade point
average of "B" (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) or its equivalent for all courses
completed; (a) at the time of application; or (b) during the last two years of
your undergraduate curriculum. 3. A "B+" (3.5. on a 4.0 scale) or its
equivalent for all courses completed in a qualifying major field of study,
either:(a) at the time of application; or (b) during the last 2 years of your
undergraduate curriculum. 4. Election to membership in one of the national
honorary societies (other than freshman societies) that meets the requirements
of the Association of College of Honor Societies. Grade point averages should
