Serves as a senior Mechanical Engineer, responsible for developing mechanical designs; performing technical reviews of mechanical designs developed by Architectural-Engineering firms (A-E), and resolving mechanical design related problems arising during construction for a wide range of mechanical design features. Provides mechanical expertise for design projects containing the most diverse, complex, and/or unconventional mechanical systems and features incorporated into wide range of the District's Military and Civil Works facilities including, but not limited to troop living quarters; dining facilities; medical and dental facilities; multistory administrative buildings; reserve centers; instructional facilities; industrial shop facilities; aircraft shelters; warehouses; youth centers; unique, complex, or one of a kind military facilities; large multipurpose reservoir projects, which include flood control, water supply, hydropower, recreation facilities, and environmental measures.

Experience required:
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: the study, layout, and design of Military Construction (MILCON) projects such as: military facilities and structures including offices, warehouses, housing or the civilian equivalent; developing Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection drawings, plans and specifications, writing technical reports, preparing applicable portions of studies and analyses supporting project design documents, formulating and resolving design issues during construction, and performing or overseeing the technical review of mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection design products developed internally or by A-E firms; developing mechanical design solutions where little guidance or precedent exists.
