This nurse works in Ambulatory Surgical Service, circulating and/or scrub in the Operating Room and Endoscopy. May also perform duties in the Surgical Service Clinic, Primary Care, and Joint Venture Hospital located on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.

The incumbent serves as an RN in the Ambulatory Surgical Unit, part of the Surgical Service of the Alaska VA Healthcare System (AVAHS). Services include but are not limited to, general surgery, orthopedic, podiatry, urology, and ophthalmology procedures/surgery and endoscopy procedures. The RN will circulate and/or scrub in both VA and Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in the Operating Rooms and Endoscopy Suites. In the Pre-Op area, patients are prepared for surgical/invasive procedures. In the Recovery area, the nurse attends to post-anesthesia recovery of outpatient surgery/procedures and endoscopy patients. The RN is able to manage and deliver care for complex patient situations. RN responsibilities include working in the Surgical Service Clinic, Ambulatory Surgery Unit (OR), Endoscopy Suites and Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. May be required to assist in Primary Care and other areas of the Alaska VA Healthcare System.

Citizen of the United States. Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing.
