The VA Northern California Health Care System and the Department of Neurological Surgery at University of California, Davis seeks two jointly appointed academic neurosurgeons for multi-site assignment in Northern California. One position will focus primarily on Spine surgery and requires completion of a Spine Fellowship. The second position is for a neurosurgeon with training in Skull based surgery. Both positions are jointly salaried at competitive rates and are full-time positions at the Assistant/Associate Professor levels. Research opportunities include access to superb animal facilities, eligibility for multi-source funding such as VA Merit, DoD, NIH, and other sources. Both positions will involve general neurosurgery at VA/DoD facilities as well as clinical work at the UC Davis Medical Center. This exciting opportunity combines academic surgery with the satisfaction of caring for those actively serving, or who have served, our country.
Candidates must meet criteria for academic appointment, be BC/BE, have or be able to obtain a California medical license, be US Citizens or PRA, and satisfy criteria for necessary levels of security clearance. In order to qualify for this position you must meet the following:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

2. English Language Proficiency - Must be proficient in spoken and written English
3. Education - Degree of doctor of medicine or equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was complete.
4. Licensure - Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the U.S. or in the District of Columbia.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
1. Must be Board Eligible/Board Certified Physician in any specialty recognized by the ABMS.
2. The qualified candidates will be seasoned clinicians who demonstrate extensive and progressive leadership experience, both as a clinician and an administrator, and possess the ability to promote innovation, inspire organizational excellence, be able to build teams, and coach clinical leaders as they work toward common goals. Exceptional interpersonal skills, project management, organizational planning, and facilitation skills are essential. The successful candidate must have the ability to meet VA established performance measure goals, and possess a thorough knowledge of the standards of the Veterans Health Administration and other accrediting bodies.
