The Womens Clinic at the American Lake section of General Medicine Service within the VA Puget Sound Health Care System, situated in Tacoma, WA, is seeking a dynamic board certified or board eligible physician for the position of Primary Care Provider, Women's Health Clinic. The patient population ranges from young adult to geriatrics. The Incumbent will demonstrate proficiency in practice, planning, and self-direction in goal setting for managing each Veterans medical need. Candidates should be board-certified in Family Practice or Internal Medicine, with experience in comprehensive womens health primary care. There are potential teaching opportunities as well, and the provider may choose to spend a portion of time in Primary Care Clinic.
Duties include, but not limited to the following:
· Provide comprehensive primary care for Women Veterans of all ages, including a large number of younger patients. This includes management of a panel of patients.
· Provide preventive health care; primary care evaluation and management of medical conditions; contraception and pre-pregnancy planning.
· Work as part of the multi-disciplinary Womens Clinic, including nursing, pharmacy, gynecology, social work, mental health and nutrition, to provide team-based care and participate in quality improvement activities to enhance care.
· Serve as consultants for clinic nurse practitioners, and there are future opportunities to expand teaching in Womens Clinic.
Work Schedule: *Clinic is open 7:30 am - 5:00 pm. Provider is expected to work some extended hours; this is currently evening clinics some days, but may in the future also include some Saturday clinics and/or early morning clinics.
