Serves as the lead lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools and works under the direction of the Outdoor Recreation Program Manager.
Performs lifeguarding duties and limited management functions. Ensures the safe operation of the pool, filtration system, water balance, pool chemistry and performs water test. Responsible for pool patrons safety/health in attendance at the assigned aquatics facility. Provides maximum surveillance of pool area and rescues swimmers and administers first aid as required. Ensures that safety/health/admission rules and Aquatic Risk Management policies are followed. Responsible for teaching aquatic swimming and water survival training according to TC 21-21,attends aquatics and/or safety training as directed. Adheres to the Customer Service standards of the Installation. Keeps accurate records/reports and adequate supplies.
Leads the work of other employees. Passes on to other workers instructions received from the supervisor and starts work. Distributes and balances work- load assuring that each employee has enough work to keep busy. Answers questions of other employees on procedures, policies, and directives. Provides leadership, guidance and oversight in program operations. Provides on-the job training to new employees.
Conditions of Employment:
1. A one-year probationary period may be required.

9. Must be willing to work at other activities within the Business Operations Division on a temporary basis (May require travel from APG North and APG South).
10. Water Safety Instructor (WSI) from the American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent.

Minimum Qualifications*:
Must possess the following certificates:
1. American Red Cross "Lifeguard" certification or nationally
recognized equivalent (i.e. Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Certification).
2. American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional
Rescuer" (CPR-Pro) certification or nationally recognized equivalent (i.e.
Ellis & Associates (CPR) Certification).
3. Water Safety Instructor (WSI) from the American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent.
4. Must be at least 16 years of age at the time of appointment (No later than 01 May 2017).
MUST PROVIDE ALL CERTIFICATIONS AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION TO RECEIVE CREDIT

Highly Preferred Criteria**:
1. At least one summer season of professional lifeguarding experience? A season is defined as at least 3 to 4 months experience. (Includes professional lifeguarding experience outside of the summer season, but at least 3 consecutive month of professional lifeguard experience, i.e. Experience outside of the summer season working at an indoor Pool).
2. At least 6 months of professional experience teaching swim lessons.
3. Possession of a valid driver's license.
4. Possession of an American Red Cross "Oxygen Administration" certification or nationally recognized equivalent (i.e. Ellis & Associates Oxygen Administration certification).
