This position is located within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO). The primary purpose is for the establishment of obligations, audit and preparation for payment of the various types of vouchers, the preparation of accounting entries, the maintenance of subsidiary ledgers, and the recordings of financial transactions within the Office of the Chief Financial Officer, Office of Financial Management (OFM), Financial Operations. Probationary Period: This is a full-time permanent position (Career/Career-Conditional appointment). Upon appointment to this position, you may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.
GS-06: You qualify at the GS-06 level if you meet one of the following:
Experience: One (1) year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in Federal service) performing duties such as classifying and coding financial transactions such as payment vouchers; preparing and reviewing financial documents to verify accounting data and necessary entries; validating, monitoring, controlling and maintaining accounting transactions and accounting records using a variety of procedures; researching discrepancies between ledgers and making adjustments; and reconciling detailed listings of outstanding transactions to general ledger control accounts.
National Service Experience (i.e. volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
