Performs a full range of simple cooking by preparing and cooking items that require little or no processing. Prepares food by peeling, chopping, pureeing, breading, etc. Weighs, measures, and assembles ingredients, mixes ingredients according to recipes, and covers, dates, and stores leftovers according to established procedures. Operates a variety of kitchen equipment and disassembles, cleans and assembles component parts and accessories, following safety procedures. Uses and cleans a variety of cooking utensils, equipment, and work areas after each use. Follows established sanitation procedures, and ensures that foods are stored at the correct temperatures to prevent bacteria growth.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Conditions of Employment:
1. A one-year probationary period may be required.
2. Meet all qualification/eligibility requirements.
3. A completed and signed copy DA Form 3433 is required prior to entrance on duty.
4. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-VERIFY) check.
5. All required background checks of AR 215-3, must be successfully completed and maintained including Child and Youth National Agency Check with Inquiries (CNACI).

Candidates must have:
1. Basic knowledge of food preparation methods and procedures.
2. Skill to cook a limited variety of prepared foods or short order foods.
3. The ability to read and understand written food service material, such as food labels, standardized recipes, and basic work instructions.
4. Skill in performing basic mathematical computations to multiply ingredients in a recipe or to determine how many servings a container will hold.
5. Knowledge of the various tables of weights and measures and ability to follow instructions to convert from standard to metric measurements.
6. Skill in operating, disassembling and cleaning basic food service equipment such as griddles, broilers, and food grinders.
7. Knowledge of basic sanitation, infection and spoilage control procedures.
Physical Requirements:
1. Candidates must be able to lift and move up to 40 pounds unassisted.
2. Candidates must be able to continually stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull, and bend.
