This position is located within a National Guard aircraft maintenance organization. Its primary purpose is to inspect, repair, modify, and service aircraft systems, components, and assemblies, both on- and off-aircraft.
This is an indefinite position, however the position may be converted to permanent based on supervisors discretion without further competition or interview.
DEFINITION OF AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION:
AREA I = All presently employed Delaware Air National Guard permanent federal technicians.
AREA II = All currently active members of the Delaware Air National Guard.
AREA III = All other applicants eligible for membership in the Delaware Air National Guard.

(1) Performs inspections, functional checks, and preventive maintenance on aircraft to include periodic, phase, hourly, preflight, postflight, calendar, thru-flight, and special inspections such as fuel contamination, emergency equipment, and oil sampling
(2) Troubleshoots and performs unscheduled maintenance on assigned and transient aircraft, utilizing various gauges, meters, measuring devices and other related test equipment.
(3) May be required to perform user and organizational level maintenance on assigned support equipment, including inspection, repair, modification, and corrosion prevention
(4) Provides data for aircraft maintenance historical records, complete maintenance data collection, man-hour accounting, and other forms as required.
(5) Instructs, directs, and assigns maintenance repair tasks to drill status guard members
(6) Complies with safety, fire, security, and housekeeping regulations.

The basic qualification requirements are indicated below. These requirements must be met in addition to all military requirements and selective placement factors indicated in order to be considered qualified for this position.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
Experience or training that has provided the candidate with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications. Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE (WG-08): (12 months)
Use of common hand tools to make mechanical repairs. Experience removing and installing aircraft parts, components and accessories with detailed guidance. Experience in following detailed instructions in making routine, reoccurring repairs and modifications to aircraft parts, subassemblies and components, e.g. such as jacking and leveling aircraft, installing and adjusting engines, landing gear assemblies, instrument panels, and flight control systems
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE (WG-10): (18 months)
Experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification. Experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow. Must have the ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container.
**QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE**
Length of time is not itself qualifying. The applicant's experience will be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual. The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position.
