Accredited by The Joint Commission, the Whiteriver PHS Indian Hospital is a 40-bed hospital and provides ambulatory and inpatient services for 17,000 White Mountain Apache Tribal Members and 4,000 Native Americans living in the surrounding areas. The Cibecue Health Center, located 50 miles northwest of Whiteriver, provides outpatient, urgent care, dental, and community health services to 1,800 residents of Cibecue and Carrizo.
This is a Direct Hire Open Continuous Announcement (OCA) for a permanent Full-Time, Part-Time, or Intermittent Pharmacist for the Pharmacy Department at the Whiteriver Service Unit (WRSU) in Whiteriver, Arizona. Qualified candidates with a complete application will be considered for current or future vacancies as they occur. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
All pharmacists must meet all three of the following basic requirements:
Degree: Bachelor's or higher graduate degree in Pharmacy recognized by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education.
Licensure: Active license to practice pharmacy in a State, territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
Medical Requirement: Must be able to distinguish basic colors
In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
For GS-11: Completion of a six year course of study leading to a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree, or Completion of a professional Pharmacy educational program and one year of professional Pharmacy experience equivalent to at least GS-9 performing duties such as filling prescriptions in a hospital, clinic, or privacy pharmacy. Skill in computers and electronic health information systems is highly desirable.
For GS-12: One year of professional Pharmacy experience equivalent to at least GS-11.
New Graduates: Applications will be accepted from applicants who are in their final year of their Doctor of Pharmacy program. Such applicants are required to provide evidence of meeting all position requirements before they can enter on duty.

Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employee's credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which annual leave is earned.
A one-year probationary period may be required upon selection/placement.
