In addition to the basic salary, incumbent will receive a 5.80% Cost of Living Allowance (COLA).

This is a developmental position, from Entry to Skill and to Target level. Applicants who are appointed at the Entry level are required to complete mandatory training, and upon completion, will be reassigned to the Skill level with a pay increase. After completion of additional training incumbents will be promoted to the Target level with a pay increase.
Serves as a Child and Youth Program Assistant (CYPA) in one or more CYS programs. Maintains control of and accounts for whereabouts and safety of children and youth. Plans, coordinates, and conducts activities for program participants based on observed needs of individual children/youth. Implements activities and special events that meet the physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs of children and youth. Establishes a program environment that sustains participant interest and promotes positive interactions with other children, youth and adults. Helps prepare, arrange, and maintain indoor and outdoor activity areas and materials to accommodate daily schedule. Assists children and youth with special projects, homework and life skills. Prepares and implements program options for children and youth with special requirements. Reviews, provides input to, and implements schedules and activity plans. Demonstrates, instructs, leads and facilitates planned and spontaneous program activities. Sets up displays and bulletin boards. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment

2. Possess and maintain the physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds, walk, bend, and stoop, stand for prolonged periods and on a routine basis.
3. Immunizations may be required as a condition of employment for the health and safety of those in the facility as determined by medical authority. Already immune individuals (based on documented receipt of vaccine series or physician diagnosed illness), or those subject to religious exemption, or medical contraindication are exempt from this requirement.
4. Must be willing to work irregular hours to include days, evenings, occasional weekends, and on call/as needed.
All candidates must meet the following:
- Be able to communicate in English (both written and verbal) at a level adequate to execute health and safety directives, and implement developmental activities for children.
- Minimum 18 years of age at the time of appointment and must hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
Qualification requirements for Entry Level - CY 01:
- Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate.
A COPY OF YOUR HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA IS REQUIRED IN ORDER TO SUPPORT QUALIFICATION AT ENTRY LEVEL.
Qualification requirements for Skill Level - CY 01
- Possess three (3) months experience working in a group program with children and/or youth.
- Completion of Army Entry Level Training Certificate (Air Force/Navy equivalent).
OR
- Meet Entry-level requirements and demonstrated satisfactory performance.
- One year of education above high school level which included nine (9) semester hours of college credit in early childhood/elementary/secondary/special education, child/youth development, psychology, human development, youth program administration, recreation or related behavioral sciences, or one (1) year vocational certificate in childcare.
Qualification requirements for Target Level - CY 02:
- Meet skill-level requirements and demonstrated satisfactory performance.
- Possess twelve (12) months experience working in a group program with children and/or youth.
- Completion of Army Foundation Level Training Certificate (Air Force/Navy equivalent).
OR
- Two (2) years of education above the High School level, which includes twelve (12)- semester hours of college credit in early childhood/elementary/secondary/special education, child/youth development, psychology, human development, youth program administration or related behavioral sciences.
A COPY OF YOUR TRANSCRIPTS/TRAINING CERTIFICATES IS REQUIRED IN ORDER TO SUPPORT QUALIFICATION AT THE SKILL AND/OR TARGET LEVEL.
