The Fayetteville VA Medical Center, Mental Health Service Line is seeking psychologists to deliver evidence-based and recovery-oriented care to Veterans within the following clinics in addition to our general Outpatient Mental Health Clinic:
Psychologist: Home Based Primary Care (HBPC)
Home Based Primary Care (HBPC) consists of a small, cohesive multidisciplinary team which travels to the veteran's place of residence to provide services. The HBPC Psychologist serves veterans whose physical health and/or mobility significantly limits their ability to come to the hospital/clinics for medical care.
Clinical Psychologist: Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)/Substance Use Disorder (SUD)
The Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)/Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Psychologist serves as the subject matter expert in the area of PTSD and SUD for the Substance Abuse Treatment Program. The PTSD/SUD psychologist should be able to utilize the most appropriate psychotherapeutic techniques (such as EBP, individual, group or psycho-education) in providing quality care to this dual diagnosis population.
Clinical Psychologist: Primary Care Mental Health Integration Team
The Primary Care Mental Health Integration (PCMHI) team is an outpatient multidisciplinary service within the Mental Health Service Line that provides a wide range of brief recovery-oriented services for veterans within a Primary Care Setting. The PCMHI Psychologist will provide individual and group psychotherapy at our Fayetteville HCC.
Health Psychologist:
The health psychologist will provide psychological assessments, as well as training and other consultative services to medical staff. Knowledge and experience with administration of health psychology assessments such as pre-bariatric evaluations, organ transplant clearance evaluations, and evaluations for spinal cord stimulator treatment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Light Carrying of items under 15lbs. Walking(moderate) hours; Standing(moderate) hours; Hearing( aid permitted) Other: Emotional and Mental Stability.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: The basic requirements for employment as a VHA psychologist are prescribed by: Public Law 96-151 codified in Title 38, U.S.C. § 7402. To qualify for appointment, all applicants for the position of psychologist in VHA must meet the following:
a. Citizenship. Citizen of the United States. (Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3g, this part.)
b. Education
(1) Have a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). The specialty area of the degree must be consistent with the assignment for which the applicant is to be employed.
AND
(2) Have successfully completed a professional psychology internship training program that has been accredited by APA. Exceptions: (1) new VHA psychology internship programs that are in the process of applying for APA accreditation are acceptable in fulfillment of the internship requirement, provided that such programs were sanctioned by the VHA Central Office Program Director for Psychology and the VHA Central Office of Academic Affiliations at the time that the individual was an intern and (2) VHA facilities who offered full one-year pre-doctoral internships prior to PL 96-151 (pre-1979) are considered to be acceptable in fulfillment of the internship requirement.

In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the following professional KSAs and demonstrate the potential to acquire the assignment specific KSAs designated by an asterisk (*):
a. Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
(1) Knowledge of, and ability to apply advanced professional psychological theories and techniques to the full range of patient populations.
(2) Ability to provide professional advice and consultation in areas related to professional psychology and behavioral health.
(3) Ability to deal effectively with individuals or groups representing widely divergent backgrounds, interests, and points of view.
