This is an open continuous announcement in which applicants can specify which department in the Gulf Coast Biloxi Veterans Administration they wish to be considered. The different departments are as follows:
Community Living Center: The Community Living Center (CLC) is a 96 bed facility with a combination of long term care, rehabilitation, skilled nursing, memory impaired and hospice and palliative care residents.
Acute Care: The Acute Care Staff Nurse possesses the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively apply all aspects of the nursing process within collaborative and interdisciplinary practice settings.
Emergency Department: Provide direct patient care to patient in the Emergency Department (ED) setting, evaluate outcomes, consult with other specialists as required and adjust nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal care. Provide comprehensive emergency care to unstable/critically ill patients in the emergency department setting.
ICU: The Staff Nurse will be responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care and evaluates care based on age-specific components. He/She assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient transition through the continuum of care, patient and family education, patient self-management after discharge, and supporting factors that impact customer satisfaction.
Specialty Clinics: Specialty Clinic is an outpatient clinic that consists of both Medical and Surgical Clinics. Medical Clinics include: Hematology, Oncology, Gastroenterology, Hepatitis C, Neurology, Dermatology, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)/Polytrauma Surgical Clinics include: Orthopedics, Podiatry, and General, Thoracic, Colorectal, Vascular and Plastic Surgery.
Behavioral Health: Functions include but not limited operates independently as the staff nurse, charge nurse on a 32 bed Acute Mental Health Unit Care for Veterans treated for Suicide Ideations, Psychosis, Homicidal Ideations, PTSD, depression and Substance Abuse and others. The nurse is primarily responsible for applying the nursing process to the care of Veteran. The RN participate in the interdisciplinary and daily huddle team meeting, conducts groups, admit and discharge Veterans. Veterans' care is documented in a computerized program system.
Operating Room: The Perioperative Staff
Nurse possess intraoperative skills; specific to skills and duties of a
Circulator and Scrub nurse; and PACU nurse
Ambulatory
Surgery/Observation Unit) (ASOU): The
ASOU/Moderate Sedation RN will prepare and discharge patients as primary duties
and Moderate Sedation duties as needed for endoscopies or interventional
radiology
Primary Care Clinic: The Registered nurse successfully integrates the sciences and arts in establishing a systematic plan in caring for patients and their families. The incumbent promotes and restores patients health by utilizing the nursing process an evidence-based practice tool; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare team members; providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families; supervising assigned team members.
