Duties
As a Industrial Hygienist, you will:
- Serve as a professional expert in the field of Industrial Hygiene and Industrial Health related to a broad range of Industrial Hygiene and Safety disciplines: e.g., chemical and nuclear exposure, air monitoring, noise, ventilation, ergonomics, asbestos, confined space, and related industrial safety programs.
- Develop, revise, and coordinate worker safety and health rules.
- Serve as a team lead for assigned worker safety and health policy projects.
- Monitor project progress towards goals, providing feedback on challenges, obstacles, and roadblocks.
- Oversee program offices, field elements, and contractor organizations in the implementation of worker safety and health requirements.
- Interpret National occupational safety and health laws, policies, regulations, standards, operational directive and methodologies.

Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: (TRANSCRIPTS MUST BE PROVIDED WITH APPLICATION)
1) Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in industrial hygiene, occupational health sciences, occupational and environmental health, toxicology, safety sciences, or related science; or
2) A bachelor's degree in a branch of engineering, physical science, or life science that included 12 semester hours in chemistry, including organic chemistry, and 18 additional semester hours of courses in any combination of chemistry, physics, engineering, health physics, environmental health, biostatistics, biology, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology, or industrial hygiene: or
3) Certification from the Home - Board for Global EHS Credentialing (gobgc.org)
In addition to meeting the Basic Requirement above, you must also meet the specialized experience list below.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-14 in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting ALL of the following:
- Providing technical advisory in the field of Industrial Hygiene or Occupational Safety in order to assure the integration of safety and health to agency/company practices and procedures.
- Reviewing trends in worker safety and health issues to develop rules, directives, and technical standards in areas such as exposure to chemical, biological, and physical hazards.
- Analyzing studies, surveys, inspections, and audits to include evaluating complex incidents and events to identify potential serious impact to health and safety of workers or affecting the quality of workplace conditions.
