Leads the development and execution of consumer policies and programs. Assists Treasury officials in the general supervision and oversight of consumer policy.
Aids in the close coordination of consumer policy matters with key individuals both within Treasury and externally including, but not limited to, other federal agencies, state and local entities, and relevant congressional committees.
Advises senior Treasury officials on a wide range of topics related to consumer protection and consumer financial health policies including, but not limited to, financial products and topics such as credit, payments and savings products, market structure and product fairness in bank and non-bank financial companies, household digitization of finances, and community financial vulnerabilities and frictions to access. Manages the monitoring of new developments in the sector and their impact on consumers and communities, providing detailed analyses of policy options and proposals.
Directs comprehensive reviews of financial services policies and rules and identifies and develops legislative and regulatory options and proposals affecting consumer financial services.
Reviews for technical implications significant legislative proposals and reports that affect consumer policy and the consumer financial services sector.
Supervises OCP staff, specifically individuals charged with managing specific consumer policy subject areas. Assists in hiring and supervising the professional and support staff and helps to promote the career development of each member of the staff. Provides both administrative and substantive direction, guidance, and encouragement to the staff, formulates performance expectations for each staff member, provides performance feedback, and prepares annual staff evaluations. Is responsible for the administrative operations of OCP.

MTQ 1. Extensive experience providing strategic and technical advice and guidance to senior officials on a wide range of policy and program issues related to consumer policy and financial services.
MTQ 2. Broad knowledge and thorough understanding of federal and state laws and rules governing financial services provided by banks and nonbanks, including consumer protection, prudential regulation, and Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering policies.
MTQ 3. Extensive experience bringing knowledge about consumers and the consumer financial services market to key decision makers or officials, resulting in outcomes that reflect consumers' financial services preferences and needs.
MTQ 4. Demonstrated skill in directing a diverse staff in planning, developing and implementing administration, project management, and human resource management.
