Duties include but are not limited to:
Manages, directs, controls, and supervises the activities of the Section which consists of approximately 15 to 30 employees during a disaster or major emergency.
Analyzes and independently resolves difficult issues and problems pertaining to the accuracy and timeliness of supply actions.
Determines and acceptable equipment cache storage site upon arrival and plans the physical layout to facilitate proper NDMS disaster team operations.
Implements and manages an efficient supply management program to fill the immediate needs of the NDMS disaster response team in-route and at the site of a disaster or major emergency.
Based upon training and qualification, may be assigned a leadership or other Incident Command System role during deployment.
This position is an Intermittent work schedule: A schedule that requires an employee to work an irregular number of hours or days for which there is no prearranged scheduled tour of duty. You also may not hold dual federal employment.
During deployments, the work is primarily related to readiness for and deployment for response during the aftermath of a disaster or public health emergency, where work may be field based, in a tent environment that is remote and austere, caring for sick, injured, dying, or deceased persons. This work requires above average health, physical, and mental conditioning with routine long periods of repetitive walking, bending, lifting, and carrying, such as carrying NDMS equipment or heavy patients on litters. Incumbent must be capable of working in a high-stress, high security, remote, austere, and uncharacterized environment, void of infrastructure and vital services, requiring specific physical demands, such as the ability to lift 50 pounds, and work characteristics that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. For these reasons, employees are required to complete a physical and health screening process, meet and maintain certain physical standards, as well as mental, behavioral, and cognitive competencies. Work may be performed in an office setting or indoor and outdoor field sites, sometimes in adverse weather. During emergency situations, the work environment may be situated in austere conditions and environment in terms of destroyed infrastructure (e.g., food and water, housing, electricity, communications), the presence of endemic diseases, and limited health and sanitation facilities requiring special safety precautions.
To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
You qualify for this position if you possess the following: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lowest grade GS-12 in the Federal service. This experience may have been gained in the federal government, a state or local government, a non-profit organization, the private sector, or as a volunteer.

1. Preparing equipment, personnel, and travel orders, and/or arranging transportation to support emergency response -OR-
2. Analyze and independently address complex issues and problems to support accurate and timely response activities -OR-
3. Communicate information, recommendations, and guidance to teams on logistical operations, personnel actions or tasking, equipment requirements, and travel requirements/operations to ensure program effectiveness -OR-
4. Assist with planning and coordinating processes and instructions for efficient implementation of supply management, resource provisioning, and/or travel support for response operations.
Experience refers to:
