The incumbents of this position are responsible for the following Facility Management Activities in the Lake District.
Project Management: Responsible for development and implementation of projects, and development of alternatives for facility systems when infrastructure capabilities cannot support mission requirements. Coordinates project scope, goals and objectives; facilitates planning and design processes; develops spending plan and budget protocols; manages construction process ensuring all project documentation is completed and archived.
Risk Management/Safety: Responsible for a comprehensive safety and training program to eliminate at risk behaviors and environments and enforce regulatory policies and mandates. Implements programs such as medical monitoring, respiratory, hearing, maintaining health and safety records for all employees supervised. Oversees the process for reporting loss time incidents to determine trends and root cause. Initiates periodic inspections and corrective measures for violations of OSHA standards.
Personnel Management: Exercises the full range of supervisory duties at least 25% of the time. Recruits and recommends selection of employees. Executes established work plans; establishes work schedules and priorities. Recommends promotions, reassignments and other personnel actions. Approves leave, sets performance standards and evaluates and awards outstanding performance. Identifies training needs and identifies training opportunities. Resolves complaints or minor grievances and advises employees on matters related to less than satisfactory performance. Actively supports EEO programs and communicates this support to subordinates.
AREA INFORMATION:
Lake Area: Park interior roads are not plowed after Thanksgiving and interior duty stations are typically only reachable by snowmobile November through April. Medical services, grocery shopping, banking, entertainment, UPS, and other delivery services are NOT available in the winter in the interior of the park. The US Mail is delivered twice a week or less in the winter. Although this isolation is acceptable to some employees, many soon find it a hardship for themselves and their families. Reassignment to another less isolated location is not an option. We strongly suggest you thoroughly investigate the winter lifestyle characteristics in Yellowstone National Park interior sites.
There is no substitution of education for experience at the grade level(s) of this announcement.

Physical Demands: Work is mostly sedentary in an office setting. At times, walking, hiking, climbing, bending and moderate lifting are required.
Working Conditions: The work involves regular and recurring exposure to moderate risks and discomforts associated with the operation, repair, and maintenance of park infrastructure and equipment. There are occasions of exposure to risk situations.
The National Park Service has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework only during an emergency or natural disaster.
