The following duties are performed for all locations: The selectee hired for this position cleans all areas of buildings, washes interior and exterior windows, sweeps and vacuums floors; removes trash and debris; cleans up spills and overflows; scrubs, strips, waxes and polishes floors; runs powered cleaning equipment; sweeps walkways and areas within site boundaries; receives shipments and unloads supplies; moves furniture; removes graffiti from walls of building inside and outside of buildings; sets out and removes signs; paints simple items such as picnic tables and signs; collects, picks up and empties garbage and trash within site boundaries; digs ditches and trenches; levels holes and other problems with paths and roads; rakes and waters lawns; trims trees and shrubs; operates power equipment such as leaf blowers, lawn mowers, portable snow blowers; uses and maintains common hand tools; performs moderate to heavy physical labor that may require lifting of more than 50 lbs.
Duties performed only at LOWELL: Lowell Summer Music Series (LSMS). The incumbent of this position will be required to perform moderately heavy general maintenance duties involved with setting up and striking equipment used to produce special events at Lowell National Historical Park. The incumbent will load and unload trucks, trailers, & warehouses of a wide variety of equipment such as tents, tables, chairs, portable fencing, and tarps. The incumbent will use several types of simple hand tools and some power tools. The incumbent will move furniture, set up, and remove signs, rope, and stanchion. The incumbent will work Wednesday through Saturday with an 8-hour day (9:00 am to 5:00 pm) on Wednesday and Thursday, and a 12-hour day (12:00 pm to 12:00 am) on Friday and Saturday. The incumbent will work every Friday and Saturday night over the course of the entire summer season. The incumbent will collect trash and recycling. The incumbent will lift and move objects that weight in excess of 40 pounds and in some cases carry 80 to 100 pounds with the assistance of others. Incumbent will perform janitorial / custodial duties on an as needed basis.

Non-Competitive Rehire Eligibility: Temporary seasonal employees can only maintain their non-competitive rehire eligibility if they work no more than a combined total of Temporary NTE less than 1040 hours anywhere in the National Park Service (NPS) within their established service year. Accordingly, non-competitive rehire eligibility allows for re-appointment to the same position or another position appropriate for temporary appointment with the same qualification requirements (5 CFR 316.402[b][7]), based on series and grade, anywhere in the major subdivision (NPS).
If you have held a temporary seasonal appointment in the past 12 months and have already worked the maximum temporary appointment less than 1040 hours during that period, you are still welcome to apply. However, please be aware that exceeding the limit of 1040 hours in your established service year will result in the loss of your non-competitive rehire eligibility.
The limit can be exceeded by working multiple temporary seasonal positions that result in a combined total greater than 1040 hours. The limit also can be exceeded by working a single temporary seasonal appointment that exceeds 1040 hours, unless granted an exception by OPM.
