The Commission is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as the Director and Chief Accountant for the Division of Audits and Accounting (DAA) in the Office of Enforcement. The Office of Enforcement includes approximately 170 professional staff members who are responsible for ensuring compliance with the Commission's rules and regulations. The Director of DAA and Chief Accountant manages and leads a diverse team of professional staff to oversee the Commission's financial accounting, regulatory reporting, and the Office's auditing programs. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring effective regulation and protecting customers through understanding markets and their regulation, timely identifying and remedying market problems, assuring compliance with Commission rules and regulations, and developing corrective measures to address noncompliance. Specifically, the incumbent will lead a multi-disciplinary staff of auditors, accountants, economists, and energy industry analysts in a wide range of audits to ensure compliance with the statutes administered by the Commission and the rules, orders, and regulations issued thereunder; direct the Commission’s financial accounting and regulatory reporting programs; and advise the Commission on matters stemming from the audit, accounting, and regulatory reporting programs.
Major Duties:
--Applies professional accounting principles, techniques, and theories to solve complex accounting, auditing, and financial issues.
--Plans, directs, and coordinates the financial accounting and auditing programs to examine jurisdictional companies’ compliance with the statutes administered by the Commission and the rules, orders, and regulations issued thereunder.
--Advises Office of Enforcement senior management and the Commission on matters stemming from the aforementioned audits, accounting, and regulatory reporting matters.
--Directs the auditing of market participants' compliance with market rules and practices, and reviewing of companies’ affiliated practices to ensure compliance with the Commission's affiliated rules.

1. Knowledge of accounting principles, auditing standards and procedures, as well as, statutes, policies and precedents affecting the energy industry.
2. Demonstrated experience in planning, directing, and coordinating significant auditing activities to examine compliance and develop corrective measures for noncompliance.
3. Demonstrated experience planning, directing, and coordinating financial accounting programs.
4. Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and manage professionals in a variety of disciplines.
5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and to provide advice to high-level officials on auditing, accounting, and regulatory reporting matters.
