Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is defined as one year of experience at the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the private sector developing new models, metrics, frameworks, dashboards, and approaches to Enterprise Risk Management for the Special Financial Assistance (SFA) program or implementation of a new program or program change. Examples may include developing and implementing an Enterprise Risk Framework; assessing and evaluating operational, financial, strategic, reporting, compliance, and reputational risks of a pension, benefits, or insurance organization; using quantitative and qualitative measures to prioritize risks and risk management strategies; and developing and implementing models for quantifying credit, investment, actuarial, and other risks to a pension, insurance, or benefits program.
Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst credential is preferred, but not required. Certifications or other training and experience in Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) would also be desirable.
In order to qualify for actuarial positions, applicants must meet the following education requirement.
A bachelor's degree that included courses in actuarial science, mathematics, relevant statistics, business, finance, economics, insurance, or computer science totaling at least 24 semester hours. This course work must have included a minimum of 12 semester hours of mathematics that included differential and integral calculus and one or more courses in mathematics for which these calculus courses were prerequisites.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications. Therefore, provide only the attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
In addition, the following actuarial credentials are desired, but not required: Associate of Society of Actuaries (ASA), Enrolled Actuary (EA), and/or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA).
