The position is responsible for providing instruction, evaluation and examination of rated pilots in flying techniques and methods of instruction, examination and evaluation. Instruction involves basic and advanced techniques for flying aircraft using instruments or under visual flight rules. Incumbent is also responsible for serving as a UH-60 Maintenance Test Pilot. Incumbent serves as instructor pilot, pilot in command on Utility Helicopter (UH-60 series) and others when assigned.
(1) Serves as rotary wing Instructor Pilot (IP).
(2) Performs preflight weather analysis, route and altitude selections, alternate airport selection, fuel, cargo and passenger load computations, selection of refueling stops, preflight inspections, flight plan filing, and firing ranges route planning/coordination.
(3) Serves as rotary wing Maintenance Test Pilot (MTP)
(4) Ensures flight crew proficiency and qualification records are standardized and kept current.
(5) Maintains requirements and performs function of technical inspector for aircraft assigned.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:
Open to US Army, Army Reserves, and Army Nat'l Guard military mbrs only
Must be assessed into WY ARNG before appt. May take up to 120 days.
Must become a member of the Wyoming Army Nat'l Guard before appt.
Must submit ORB or DA Fm 2-1 with application.
Must Possess or be able to obtain/maintain a T3/SECRET security clearance.
May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Warrants not assigned to WYARNG must submit an NGB Fm 62E.
Must be qualified as a UH-60 Maintenance Test Pilot and as a UH-60 Instructor Pilot.
EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
Technicians are paid through Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer (DD/EFT).
Military Technicians are ineligible for military enlistment, retention, and student loan repayment bonuses. Acceptance of a Technician position over 180 days will result in suspension or termination these military incentives. Relocation expenses will not be paid by the Government unless noted in the Announcement.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
1. Maintenance Test Pilot qualifications require attendance in the Maintenance Test Pilot Course IAW AR 95-1.
2. Instructor Pilot require attendance in the Instructor Pilot Course and qualifications IAW AR 95-1.
3. This is a drug testing designated position (TDP) under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program. Signing of a DA Form 5019 (Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified as Critical under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program) acknowledging periodic random drug testing requirements is mandatory prior to being placed into this position. Individuals not currently occupying a DoD TDP position must successfully complete a pre-appointment drug test prior to being placed into this position. Incumbent must possess and continue to maintain a US Army Class II Flight Physical.
4. Temporary Duty travel may be required.

AREAS OF CONSIDERATION:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Must possess at least two years specialized competencies in operating a UH-60 military helicopter, mission planning, and mission preparation. The applicant must have graduated from a UH-60 Instructor Pilot Course and a UH-60 Maintenance Test Pilot Course. Experienced in aircraft troubleshooting, conducting maintenance test flights, and as a Technical Inspector. Experienced in performing as a Pilot-in-Command of UH-60 series aircraft. Competent in conducting or supervising the training of crew members in simple to complex mission specific tasks. Experienced in developing plans and policies, monitoring operations, and advising commanders. Knowledge is required in flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, flying directives, mission tactics, and operating procedures.
Must be qualified as a UH-60 Instructor Pilot (IP) and as a UH-60 Maintenance Test Pilot (MTP)
NOTE: Specialized Experience will be used to determine qualifications for the announced position. Applicants must provide from (e.g. 02/2015 - 03/2017 or Feb 2017 - Mar 2017) dates and hours worked per week with description of your specialized experience on the resume.

Trains and evaluates aviators on basic and advanced flight techniques. This includes the procedures to use in emergencies and malfunctions over rough terrain, e.g., hills and forests both day and night.
Performs preflight weather analysis, route and altitude selections, alternate airport selection, fuel, cargo and passenger load computations, selection of refueling stops, preflight inspections, flight plan filing, and firing ranges route planning/coordination.
Ensures flight crew proficiency and qualification records are standardized and kept current.
Performs general or limited maintenance test flights following maintenance modifications or repairs to include routine scheduled maintenance. Flights are made to determine the airworthiness of the aircraft and to ensure all systems/components are functioning within the maneuvers and loads prescribed in applicable aircraft maintenance manuals and regulations.
Maintains requirements and performs function of technical inspector for aircraft assigned.

Must have a high school diploma or general education development (GED) diploma. An undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university is optimum. Must have Federal Aviation Administration certifications awarded from accredited civilian aviation programs or must have aviation certifications from accredited military aviation schools.
