With a remarkable concentration of cultural, natural, and recreational treasures, the park provides a wide array of recreational and educational activities for the metropolitan population, as well as large numbers of national and international visitors. The park includes a wildlife refuge, mature maritime holly forest, ocean dunes and coastal uplands, former military fortifications and facilities, and the oldest continuously operating lighthouse in the United States. Visitors enjoy ocean beaches, organized sports, fishing, hiking, bicycling, nature study and a chance to explore the area's important cultural heritage. More than 20 million people reside within a one-hour drive of the park. Annual park visitation averages 9.5 million.
Gateway Salary Range is : $19.94 - $23.28 per hour.
Two positions are being filled. One position is primarily located at Saugus Iron Works National Historic Site (SAIR), One position is primarily located at Salem Maritime National Historic Site (SAMA), both will need to work at the other site as these 2 parks are managed by one team.
Saugus Iron Works National Historic Site is the site of the first integrated ironworks in North America (1646-1648). The site includes a reconstructed blast furnace, forge and rolling and slitting mill, a restored 17th century house and museum. The site also includes natural resources related to the Saugus River.
Salem Maritime National Historic Site is located in Salem, Massachusetts on the Salem Harbor Coast. The site preserves and interprets the maritime history of Salem. The Park includes historic structures such as the Custom House where Nathaniel Hawthorne worked, the West India Goods Store, the 18th century Derby House, the 17th century Narbonne House, three historic wharves and the sailing vessel Friendship.
SAMA/SAIR Salary Range is : $17.87 - $20.85 per hour.
Sagamore Hill National Historic Site (SAHI) was the home of Theodore Roosevelt, 26th President of the United States, from 1885 until his death in 1919. From 1902 to 1908 his "Summer White House" was the focus of international attention. Sagamore Hill is located in Oyster Bay, New York, approximately 30 miles from Manhattan. SAHI Salary Range is : $19.94 - $23.28 per hour.
Located at the foot of College Hill in downtown Providence, Roger Williams National Memorial (ROWI) is a small urban park established by Congress to commemorate the founder of Providence and his significant contributions to the principles of freedom in the United States. Roger Williams landed at the future site of the national memorial in 1636, attracted by the presence of a fresh-water spring. Here he laid out the Providence settlement and established its government that ensured freedom of religion through the separation of church and state. As interest in the city's past grew, the spring was revealed in the early twentieth century and finally enshrined within the 4.65 acre Roger Williams National Memorial, designated in 1965 and substantially completed in 1982.
ROWI Salary Range is : $16.18 - $18.96 per hour.
Lowell National Historical Park is located in Lowell, Massachusetts, which is 35 miles northwest of Boston and served by Boston commuter rail service. The history of America's Industrial Revolution is commemorated in downtown Lowell. The Boot Cotton Mills Museum with its weave room of 88 operating looms, "mill girl" boardinghouses, the Suffolk Mill turbine, and guided tours tell the story of transition from farm to factory, chronicle immigrant and labor history, and trace industrial technology.
LOWE Salary Range is : $17.87 - $20.85 per hour.
The following duties are performed for all locations:
The selectee hired for this position cleans all areas of buildings, washes interior and exterior windows, sweeps and vacuums floors; removes trash and debris; cleans up spills and overflows; scrubs, strips, waxes and polishes floors; runs powered cleaning equipment; sweeps walkways and areas within site boundaries; receives shipments and unloads supplies; moves furniture; removes graffiti from walls of building inside and outside of buildings; sets out and removes signs; paints simple items such as picnic tables and signs; collects, picks up and empties garbage and trash within site boundaries; digs ditches and trenches; levels holes and other problems with paths and roads; rakes and waters lawns; trims trees and shrubs; operates power equipment such as leaf blowers, lawn mowers, portable snow blowers; uses and maintains common hand tools; performs moderate to heavy physical labor that may require lifting of more than 50 lbs.
There is no substitution of education for experience for Wage Grade (WG) positions.

If you have held a temporary seasonal appointment in the past 12 months and have already worked the maximum temporary appointment less than 1040 hours during that period, you are still welcome to apply. However, please be aware that exceeding the limit of 1040 hours in your established service year will result in the loss of your non-competitive rehire eligibility.
